Khat or Qat
Khat is a leafy green shrub that can grow to tree size. The leaves of the Khat plant are chewed for their amphetamine like stimulant effects. Khat is a stimulant a typical chewing session is thought to be the equivalent of ingesting 5 milligrams of amphetamine sulphate. Usually 50-200 grams of the leaves are chewed onset of effect is within 20minutes. it is estimated that several million people are frequent users of qat. Many of the users originate from countries between Sudan , Somali, and Madagascar and in the southwestern part of the Arabian Peninsula especially in Yemen.
In Saudi Arabia , the cultivation and consumption of qat are forbidden , and the ban is strictly enforced. The ban on qat is further supported by the clergy on the grounds that the Quran forbids anything that is harmful to the body. The effects that Qat can have on someone who is chewing qat can be feelings of mild euphoria , non-stop talking , suppression of their appetite. Impaired concentration and judgement , mood swings and increase in nervousness and tension.
I believe that chewing qat is very bad for your health , and people should not do this. Personally I think people who chew qat have a bad affect on their daily activities. Click on list below for more information about qat etc.
